We hope that your 2024 is off to a great start and your race calendars are beginning to shape up for the year. Over the last quarter USA Cycling has begun working on a few new changes to the coaching education program to better align with our objectives to support coach development and to increase our coaching membership base.
Departmental Shift for Coaching Education
Firstly, we are pleased to announce a shift to the management of the coaching education program from the Sport-Performance Department to the Membership Department. This move is aimed to prioritize our grassroots outreach and to ensure that our coaching programs are more accessible to a wider audience.
In-Person and Virtual Course Offerings in 2024
Second, we are excited to offer the opportunity for coach advancement in October in Bentonville, AR. This in-person course will provide opportunities for coaches looking to advance to the Level 2 or Level 1 certification category. In our effort to make these advancement opportunities more accessible, we are adding a virtual option for participation. More details to come.
Expanded Partnership with Fast Talk Labs
Next, we are expanding our partnership with Fast Talk Labs to revamp our content offerings including the redesign of the level 3, 2, and 1 courses. Through this partnership, we aim to leverage the latest in coaching science, methodologies, and practices to ensure that our coaches have the resources they need to continue developing world class talent.
Continuing Education Units (CEU’s)
Finally, we plan to reinstate CEUs to maintain and advance as a coach within USA Cycling. We believe it is vital for our coaches to stay up to date on the latest advancements in sports performance research. Through our partnership with Fast Talk Labs, we will ensure that education is accessible, affordable, and relevant. More details on timeline to come.
