Paris-Nice: France
(March 3-10) – Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) became just the third American ever to win Paris-Nice, the weeklong classic stage race that ended in his adopted home town of Nice. Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates), who won the stage 3 time trial and wore the leader’s yellow jersey for three days, placed third overall.
“Until this year, I never would have thought this was possible, but here we are,” said Jorgenson, 24, about his first World Tour win. “It couldn't have gone any better today and the whole week. It hasn’t sunk in yet, to be honest.”

Trofeo Ponente in Rosa: Italy
(March 5-8) – Kristen Faulkner (EF Education-Cannondale) won two stages out of four and placed 2nd overall at Trofeo Ponente, with her EF Education teammates placing 1st and 3rd for a team sweep. Faulkner also placed first in points and won the Queen of the Mountains jersey. It’s her second victory so far this road season.

Nokere Koerse: Belgium
(March 13) – Lily Williams (Human Powered Health) took 3rd at the one-day Nokere Koerse, a 127 kilometer Belgian road race featuring cobbles and hills. Williams was in a small group on the final cobbles near the end, chasing eventual winner Lotte Kopecky. In a sprint for podium spots Williams took third, one second behind Kopecky’s teammate Lorena Wiebes. “Coming from the track, I like when the bunch is chaotic and I love the fight for positioning and I can get quite emotional and vocal, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea,” she said afterwards. “But you have to fight for your spot and I hope this showed that I will always try to be in there with my team.”

Milan-Torino: Italy
(March 13) – Kevin Vermaerke (Team dsm-firmenich PostNL) placed 5th at the 105th version of Milano-Torino, a 177 kilometer road race. Vermaerke was in the final chase group of 13 vying for spots behind the winner, Alberto Bettiol.

Tour de Normandie Féminin: France
(March 14-17) – Lauren Stephens (Cynisca) won stage 3 and placed 6th overall on GC at the four-day Tour de Normandie Féminin. Stephens, 37, placed 3rd in points and 7th in the mountains competition.

Rhodes Grand Prix: Rhodes, Greece
(March 9) – Tyler Stites (Project Echelon Racing) won the 184 kilometer Rhodes Grand Prix, crossing the finish line first in a bunch sprint. Teammate Scott McGill (Project Echelon Racing) placed 7th.

Tour of Rhodes: Rhodes, Greece
(March 14-17) – Tyler Stites (Project Echelon Racing) placed 7th and teammate Brendan Rhim(Project Echelon Racing) was 8th at the four-stage Tour of Rhodes, in Greece. Samuel Boardman(Project Echelon Racing) won the king of the mountains jersey.

BMX RACING
Elite BMX National Championships: Rock Hill, South Carolina
(March 17) – Kamren Larsen (Answer Factory) and Alise Willoughby (Promax/Daylight/TLD/IRC) earned Elite BMX National Championship titles at Rock Hill BMX Supercross Track. It was Willoughby’s 12th national title.
Jeremy Smith placed second and Joseph Leto was 3rd for the elite men, while Carly Kane and Lexis Colby placed 2nd and 3rd behind Willoughby.
James Cutter Williams, Patrick O’Brien and Ethan Popovich placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the men’s U23 race; McKenzie Gayheart, Jacy Moore and Keiley Shea were top-three in the women’s U23, with Gayheart defending her national title.
For men’s juniors, Sean Day, Cedric Cade, and Deegan Brown captured 1st, 2nd and 3rd; Rita Fedewa, Alexis Alden and Savanna Stokes went 1-3 for the women juniors.
Team USA will gather back in Rock Hill in May for the 2023 UCI BMX Racing World Championships on U.S. soil.

TRACK
Tissot UCI Track Nations Cup: Hong Kong
(March 15-17) – Team USA arrived in Hong Kong to earn Olympic Qualifying points over three days of racing. Peter Moore and Colby Lange took on the Omnium with Moore riding to a Top 10. The best result out of the four races was in the Scratch race, where Moore and Lange finished second and third. Grant Koontz battled in the Elimination race placing 11th.
Next up for the track squad is the third and final Nations Cup in Milton, Canada, April 12-14.
