We are well into the cyclocross season and have wrapped up two successful World Cups in Waterloo, Wisc., and Fayetteville, Ark., as well as the 2022 Pan American Continental Cyclo-cross Championships held in conjunction with the Really Rad Festival of Cyclocross.
Our National Events team is just about to dive into Madison Track Nationals in Detroit and then will be focused on the last big push of the year – Cyclocross Nationals in Hartford, Conn. We hope to see some of you there, either officiating or racing your bike!
National Officials' Symposium
Mark your calendars for the 2023 National Officials Symposium in Colorado Springs on January 28 & 29. After 3 years, we are looking forward to connecting with everyone again in COS! We are working through the content and schedule and plan to have it finalized by early December. We would appreciate if you would take a few minutes to help us out by answering a few questions at the link below.

Regulation Updates
We will be releasing an updated rule book in January 2023. As officials, you work regularly within our regulations and know which regulations work well as well as others that should be modified a bit to be more effective. Got some suggestions? Email them directly to officials@usacycling.org by November 15 and include the following information:
- Regulation Number (i.e. 1I4 Youth/Junior Gears)
- Suggested change. Please use the exact wording from the rule book and show your modifications
- Justification. Please provide the justification for making the change
National Assignments
November is here, and requests for National Assignments will be here before you know it. You will continue to use the ComMgr assignment tool to request events you are qualified for and interested in working. Once the National Calendar, National Championships, and the series dates for ACC and NCL are finalized, we will open up the ability to see and request the 2023 events. Ideally, that will be sometime in the next month.
Para-cycling Officials Training
The US has been awarded a Para-cycling World Cup for 2023! The event will take place in Huntsville, Ala., over Memorial Day Weekend and will include a road race, time trial, and team relay. The incredible athletes of Team USA, including current and former World Champions, will be competing against the best in the world. If you’ve never experienced para-cycling, you should definitely put it on your list.
In addition to the World Cup, USA Cycling has paired with the Huntsville Sports Commission to host a Road and Track Para-cycling training course for Officials who have an interest in learning more about para-cycling. While para-cycling currently falls under the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, USA Cycling has the responsibility of assigning officials for the road and track events held in the US. This generally includes National Championships, UCI events, and occasionally qualifying events for World Cups, Olympics, etc.
